CoPa Ireland Introduces Equaide
Proud Flesh Eliminator - The First and Last Aid for Horse Wounds and Skin Disorders

CoPa Ireland is delighted to announce the addition of Equaide to their product portfolio. Equaide was first developed for the treatment of excessive granulation tissue, commonly known as Proud Flesh, for the thoroughbred industry. Equaide not only prevents the formation of granulation tissue, but dissolves even the worst cases of proud flesh without harming healthy tissue thus eliminating the need for surgery.

CoPa Ireland’s Equaide has been formulated in a way so it won't burn, blister, slough or scar, and there are no white hairs. The Equaide solution is in a water base, not alcohol based and therefore will not scar the horse. The unique formulation, which includes anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory agents, was specifically designed to treat excessive granulation tissue. Equaide was also formulated so that the solution won't run or drip off of wounds and can even be used without bandaging (though bandaging is encouraged). Equaide also repels flies from the wound, a necessity in the barn environment.

Due to the economic downturn and cost of veterinary fees, CoPa Ireland has introduced this product to the Irish market with great success. What we have noticed is that Equaide is the most effective solution for the treatment of cuts, wounds, abrasions and proud flesh for horses available today. It is also very effective in treating cuts and wounds with miraculous speed while preventing infection and promoting hair growth. Equaide is also great for wire cuts, scrapes, punctures, cracked heels, saddle sores; dew poisoning, rain rot lesions and bites heal quickly and more completely with a reduced chance of scarring. Equaide is frequently used when suturing a wound is not possible or when wounds re-open

Directions of Use – Bandaging

  • Clean wound with soap and water, rinse well and dry.
  • If proud flesh is present and more than 1/2 inch thick, scrub it to produce a small amount of blood.
  • Stir the Equaide well and paint on a thin layer of Equaide to the wound. Equaide is a water-based solution, so if it has been stored for a while and the solution seems dry, simply add two or three drops of water and mix well.
  • Place a non-stick gauze pad on the wound and wrap with rolled gauze and a self adhering bandaging tape such disposable "Co-Flex" or we recommend our reusable "Wrap Around". For large wounds, our Trauma pads or diapers can be used and are more economical.
  • If desired, place a standing wrap over the bandaged area for further protection.
  • Keep wrapped for 1-2 days then repeat procedure with cleansing. If there is or was infection present, you must change the bandage at least every other day until the infection is gone.
  • Once proud flesh is no longer protruding above the level of the skin, bandage changes can be done every 2-3 days.

Equaide has been used by equine veterinarians and thoroughbred trainers throughout the USA and is now available directly to the public here in Ireland and the UK. Equaide should be the first product in your first aid kit.

"Here is a picture history of the healing of my horse's leg thanks only to Equaide. Equaide really did save his life.  I spent lots of money and had 3 vets in the first month before I found your product.  I have told everyone I know who owns horses and got a local feed dealer to carry your product.  I had a veterinarian refer a client to me to show her how to heal her horse's leg (he said that conventional treatments would not work for the wound her horse had). "Elvis" would have been euthanized had I not found Equaide. I am so excited about the success I had with your product that I feel compelled to share with others. Once again, Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you. "
