Application
Application:
Once every 2 to 3 days (not more) for badly affected horses at the beginning, then once a week.

This is not a veterinary medicine which is subject to authorisation by the Board of Medicine.

Officially certified, can be used without risk up to and on the day of competition.

. Directions

1. Apply Derfen every 2 to 3 days, directly on the skin on any affected areas, insist between mane's tail, at the base of the tail; treatment should last ten days. The apply Derfen each time your horse has signs of itching.
2. During the day that follows the application the skin should become crusty and the wounds get fat. It means the Derfen is working. Prior to additional applications, delicately brush the excess crust off (do not rub too hard), Derfen will penetrate more efficiently.
3. One application every 2-3 days is recommended for the first two weeks but as every horse is different, intervals may be 3-4 days. As soon as your horse is rubbing, additional application(s) is needed.
4. After 10-12 days, apply Derfen if there is any signs of itching; if your horse is very allergic to parasites, applications will be more frequent.

. Why use Derfen?

Derfen is very effective against SSRD and mud scale. Even on advanced stages of dermatitis, results are outstanding. Derfen is 100% natural and has no side effect and does not trigger allergies. Another advantage of the 500ml (16fl.oz) bottle is the special applicator. With it, you will be able to apply Derfen directly on the skin (even through thick hair) and you will not slather it all; thus making Derfen economical. You do not need to spread the lotion all over the body but only on the affected areas. Derfen can also be combined with vaseline (petroleum jelly) to increase protection in a process of skin care management regimen (back, limbs, bottom of neck...).

. How it works...

Derfen prevents from culicoides and is a very effective barrier to their effects. However, it will not cure your horse. Derfen must be applied at regular intervals and if there is any signs of itching. If you notice Derfen is not working, apply more. If some areas are still affected but not others, you need to apply more on the former. Derfen will relieve any skin irritations if it is applied "when needed". After applying Derfen, your horse may feel the need to rub (he may be surprised or bothered: it may feel tingled). If so, you can mix Derfen with vaseline to get a softer mixture and avoid the discomfort.
